Gina K Previews - Day 2

Hello! Today we have two more stamp sets to preview for Gina K Designs. First up is a set I illustrated, called The Giving Tree. This set comes with a bare tree and accessories to give you everything you need to make cards all year long. I used the tree with no adornment on this card and added the snowflakes to the background.(details for this card below)

For this spring card, I added  the flower stamp to the branches after stamping the tree, then added the bird and squirrel. (I'll share the step by step photos for this card next week)

Next is a beautiful new set by Asela Hopkins, called Nesting. I love the gorgeous nature images in this set! I used the butterfly wings with self adhesive pearls for the body. (I'll share the step by step photos for this card next week)

For more inspiration using The Giving Tree and Nesting, be sure to check out the other designers participating today...
These two stamp sets, and all the sets previewing this week will become available in the online store, this Thursday at 10pm central. And be sure to stop by the Release Party at StampTV Thursday night at 7pm Central. There will be chatting, full stamp reveals, contests questions and challenges.

To make the background on my tree card, I used torn sticky notes to mask the bottom portion and then sponged Memento Desert Sand.

Then sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.

I wanted to warm the brown up a bit, so I sponged some Memento Cantaloupe.

Next, I stamped the tree image, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I removed the mask and used more torn sticky notes. to sponge in some snow drifts. I sponged lightly with Memento Desert Sand.

Then I moved the sticky notes and sponged again. I repeated until I filled up the bottom of the card.
I sponged around the edges at the bottom with Memento Rich Cocoa.

Next, I stamped the sentiment, also from The Giving Tree, with Memento Tuxedo Black.

I used my W3 and W1 Copic markers to add a little shading under the tree, then used an opaque white gel pen to add some snow to the tree branches.

The snowflakes, from The Giving Tree, were stamped with Memento Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa (stamped off once on scratch paper).

I layered with Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown card stock and used a Kraft card base. I also added a row of brads across the bottom.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great day!

Gina K Previews - Day 1

Hello! It's preview time again, for Gina K Designs! Today we are showing two new stamp sets that will be available this Thursday night. First is a wonderful new set from Melanie Muenchinger, called Mugs and Kisses. This set will be perfect for holidays and special occasions all year long and will be great for creating gift items.

I came up with this card that has a pocket inside to hold a few hot chocolate packets. You could also fill a cello bag with just one packet and a few Ghirardelli sqaures and place that in the pocket. (details below)

Next is a gorgeous new set from Tami Mayberry, called Block Greetings. The block images in this set will coordinate with Spellbinders dies!!! I love that the square is the perfect size to use with the Pendant Die, one of my favorite Spellbinders dies. (I'll post the step by step instructions for this card later on my blog)

This is such an exciting new release since it's our first with all our new DT members. Be prepared for some amazing inspiration!! Check out all these designer's blogs to see what they have to show you...

To make my project, I started with a sheet of Pure Luxury Lipstick Red card stock. I cut a piece 5.5 by 9, then using the left over 3 inch strip, I cut that to 3 by 6 inches.

I used my Scor Buddy to add score lines on the larger piece, at 4 and 5 inches.

Creased my folds.

On the small piece, I scored the narrow side at .5 and 1.25 inches.

On the wider side, I scored at .5, 1.24, 4.75 and 5.5 inches.

I used my scissors to cut away the pieces shown.

Then cut away the next two pieces as shown.

Then I added the cut lines, as shown, to create tabs to fold under.

Creased my folds.

Placed Scor Tape on the three flaps.

I removed the backing from the center flap and folded the sides over it to adhere.

Then I removed the backing from the sides and adhered to the card base. Two packs of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate fit perfectly.

I stamped the mug from Hugs and Kisses and colored with Copics, starting with E00 all over.

I added E57 to the outside edges and used E35 to blend into the first color.

I used E59 for the inside. After coloring, I cut out the image.

For the background, I cut a piece of cardstock to 3.5 by 5 and sponged Memento Desert Sand.

Then sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.

I stamped the XOXO image repeatedly using Memento Desert Sand.

I placed a sticky note on the background, as a mask, and sponged Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

Then sponged Memento Rich Cocoa.

I used C1, C3 and C5 to color the spoon, then cut it out.

The mug and spoon where adhered using Pop Dots and the background was layered with Pure Luxury Chocolate Brown. I also added some piercing and brads.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Sending Happy Thoughts

Happy Monday! It's time for another sketch challenge at StampTV and here is my card sample. I used the tree and sentiment from Fanciful Fall.

Here is Gina's sketch. I rotated it and used masking and sponging to make the circles on my card.

To start my background, I sponged Memento Angel Pink at the top of my cardstock.

I added a mask, cut using a 1 1/4 inch circle punch and held in place with re-positionable tape. Then I sponged more Memento Angel Pink ink.

Sponged Memento Rose Bud.

Sponged Memento Rhubarb Stalk.

I stamped the tree using Black Stazon ink.

I cut a larger circle using Circle Nestabilities, and used the negative piece as my mask. Then I sponged in the open circular space, using Memento Tuxedo Black.

I removed the mask and added some highlight to the leaves, using my white gel pen.

I layered with Pure Luxury Black Onyx and used a Bubblegum Pink card base. The sentiment is popped up with Pop Dots. I also added some piercing to two opposing corners.

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check back tomorrow (or late tonight for some peeks at new Gina K stamp sets! Have a great day!

Jingle Blue

Hello! Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I'm not a big fan of crowds, so I'll be avoiding the crowds today. For all you brave souls who go out, happy shopping!

My card is for today's color challenge at StampTV. I used the jingle bells from A Very Merry Christmas for my focal image.

This week's colors are Green Apple, Ocean Mist and White. If you play along you could win a stamp set from Gina K!

Before I show you how I made my card, I want to let you know about a great sale at Gina K Designs. You can click on the graphic to see a bigger version and get all the details. I just love the sets you can choose from. Three of those, Many Wishes, Take Flight and Tropical Flowers are among my all time favorite sets and are some of my "go to" images for when I get in a stamping slump.

I colored the bells with Copics, starting with C5.

Added C3 and then apparently I forgot to snap the next photo. After adding C3, I added C1 filling in most of the image, and then using my blender pen to soften the highlights.

For the ribbon, I started with B04.

Added B02.

Then filled in with B00. And then I forgot to snap another photo. Sheesh! For the next part, I cut an oval using Nestabilities, then sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves while it was still in the die.

I cut out the bells and attached them to the oval background, using Pop Dots. I layered the oval with a piece of Pure Luxury Ocean Mist, cut using scallop oval Nestabilities. The Apple Green layer was cut using the Fluer De Lis Spellbinders Pendant Die. Another Ocean Mist layer was embossed with the Snowflake Cuttlebug folder. Then I added another Green Apple layer and placed the whole lot of it on a white cardbase.

Thanks for stopping in. See you Monday with a new Sketch Challenge card. Have a wonderful weekend!
