Gina K Preview Day 1 - A Year of Leaves and Fruitful Harvest

Hi! It's preview time for Gina K Designs and tonight we are previewing two new stamp sets.

A Year of Leaves illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger

Melanie has done it again and illustrated another set that will become a staple in every stamper's cupboard. She has created an amazing companion set to A Year of Flowers (one of my all time faves), only this time using leaves. You are going to love this gorgeous collection of leaves that can be used any time of the year, and what a perfect time of the year for this set to come out with autumn fast approaching. It's going to be great for masculine cards, too!

On this card, I used one of the oak leaves, stamped three times and colored with Copics. I then cut out the branches and placed them on my cardstock. Then I drew a cooked line to connect the leaves and another line just parallel to the first, to form a branch. It's really easy to draw a crooked line like that, but if you don't want to, you could always use one of the stems from A Year of Leaves.

I also colored two acorns and cut them out to add to my branch. My background was cut using a rectangle Nestabilities and sponged while still in the die. The sentiment is also from the new A Year of Leaves set.

Fruitful Harvest illustrated by Asela Hopkins

My second card today, features Asela Hopkins new stamp set, Fruitful Harvest. You are going to love the wonderful large images in this set. They are so beautifully detailed and easy to color thanks for Asela's wonderful shading. I have all the details and step by step photos for this card below.

For more inspiration with the stamps previewed today, visit Gina's blog as well as Melanie Muenchinger, the illustrator of Year of Leaves and Asela Hopkins, the illustrator of Fruitful Harvest.
For even more projects with tonight's two stamp sets, these Senior Design Team Members are participating in previews today: Carolyn, Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Kurtis, Jessica, Lee, and Lynn, as well as our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team members: Denise Kelemen and Geri Utterback

Our Release Party will be held once again over on SCS starting at 7pm CST on Thursday, August 27th. There will be contests, challenges, lots of chatter as well as a ton more samples shared by the Senior Design team members and our CenterStage Spotlight team too! You won't want to miss it!

Now for the details about my card...

I started by stamping the pears from Fruitful Harvest, on a piece of Pure Luxury White paper, using Memento Black ink. Then I colored with Copic markers. I used Y21 all over to start.

Added Y23 in the areas I wanted to be darker.

Then added YR12.

Added G91 to give it just a bit of green in the shadows.

Then I added E35 in the areas that I wanted the deepest shading and used Y23 to blend it out.

For the leaves, I used YG99 along the veins.

Worked in some YG95.

Filled in the rest of the leaves with YG03.

Then used YG91 to blend the colors.

For the stem I used E35, E37 and E57.

To create the background panel, I started with a piece of Pure Luxury Ivory paper and sponged Vivid Coffee Bean ink in the center, working my way out.

Then sponged Vivid Tuscan Tan around the outside.

I layered with Pure Luxury Chocolate Kiss (cut with my scallop rectangle Nestabilities) and So Saffron (SU). I stamped the sentiment, also from Fruitful Harvest on So Saffron, then cut it into a strip just under 1/2 inch, and rounded one end with my 1/2 inch circle cutter. That nifty antique pear button if from my friend, Mary Anne (ma54k on STV). It came from her mom's antique button collection. Thanks for the buttons, Mary Anne!

Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!
