Dreamy Songbird

Hello Happy Stampers! The card I am sharing today is for the Featured Stamper challenge posted on SCS this past Sunday. The featured stamper this week is Joan Ervin. Her gallery is so beautiful. I chose this card for my inspiration.

We were to change at least two things on our card. I changed...

Added layers
Different stamps (but similar)
Added color
Used brads instead of button

Here are the details...

I used images from Home Tweet Home from Flourishes for my card. The bird was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics. I used Y21, Y23, Y15 and Y17 on the belly of the bird.

The markers in the photo above are the ones I used on the rest of the bird (B41, B21, B24, B23 and B26) . I wanted to show you this photo so you can see how I go about my color selection for Copics. I like to save all these little scraps and use them for testing colors and blending. On the first color strip (the wider one), I didn't like the way the colors were blending, so I made some adjustments and did the second color strip.

After coloring the bird, I made a mask of the bird and placed it over the image, so I could stamp the branch.

Here are the colors I used for the branch. (E33, E57, YG99, YG95, YG93 and YG03).

Next, I used my Versa Mark pen on the entire image and then heat embossed with clear.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink and the Tim Holtz blending tool to sponge the background.

Then I used a swirl stamp from Siberian Iris to stamp around the edges and added a sentiment from Botanical Dreams (Gina K). I backed the main panel with Pure Luxury Black Onyx, Bashful Blue, Pure Luxury Chocolate Kiss and used Creamy Caramel for the card base.

I have a few "after" photos of Pebbles after going to the groomer.

Isn't she a cutie?

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

So pretty! I love all of your daily tutorials. I learn something new every day! I'm not sure what's prettier - your card or your pooch! Is this the little gal that gave you such a scare in your pond last fall? What a cutie she is. We have an all white furball that looks 1/2 cocker spaniel, and half something else. They resemble each other!

Not sure which is better - the card or the photos of Pebbles! Toss up - all are great! Thanks for showing how you colored the card with the Copics.
