Say it With Flowers

I am so thrilled to be Melanie Muenchinger's guest designer for her latest release with Gina K Designs. I love Melanie's stamps and this month she has TWO amazing new sets!

The first set, A Year of Flowers, is packed full of beautifully drawn flowers. Like all of Melanie's sets, she has squeezed in as many images as possible, making this a fantastic value. There are 21 stamps in A Year of Flowers and only two of those are greetings.

Now, are you wondering where the greetings are? No worries. Her second set, Say it With Flowers, is full of fantastic, coordinating quotes, and greetings. This is my favorite sentiment set of all time. I am not a big fan of sappy sentiments, and the phrases and quotes in Say it With Flowers are right up my alley. There are a lot of really great quotes that are perfect for the inside of cards, and will work with all my flower stamps. (you may have noticed I am fond of flowers)

On this first card, I used one of the quotes from Say it With Flowers, stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I scored the sides of the white panel. Behind the white panel comes a layer of Basic Black, Lavender Lace, another Basic Black, then Whisper White card base.

The flowers and leaf stems were stamped, then colored with Koh-i-noor pencils, blended with odorless mineral spirits (OMS). I used a blue craft marker to add some extra shading. I cut them out and place them in the corners and added the ribbon.

For this card, I used the Poinsettia and stamped it once with black and three times with Versa Mark on Very Vanilla. I heat embossed the three Versa Mark images with gold glitter embossing powder. The single image stamped in black, I colored with Koh-i-noor pencils, blended with OMS.

The top panel is Very Vanilla that I dry embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I doesn't show up in the photo, but I ran my Versa Mark pad over the raised dots and then brushed Pearl Ex powder over them.

Below the Swiss Dots panel is a layer of Riding Hood Red. I wrapped gold cord around both panels. The greeting was stamped on Very Vanilla and punched out with my large SU oval punch. Then I ran the edges of the oval on my Versa Mark pad and heat embossed with more of the gold EP. I punched a small hole in the oval and tied it to the gold cord with ribbon.

A Year of Flowers & Say it With Flowers and all the new releases, will be available in the Gina K Designs Store starting at 10pm cental.

Be sure to check out Gina's blog (if you haven't already) for more peeks and some fantastic new products. Don't forget to leave a comment on her blog for a chance to win one of these wonderful new stamp sets. She will also have a list of all the members of her design team that are sharing projects with Melanie's new sets. Two people, that I know are previewing them, are Melanie (of course) and Cathy (aka Catdidit on SCS).

There is going to be a fun release party tonight, in the Gina K forums, from 7-10pm central. I love Gina K parties. It is always super fun with challenges and contests. My user name at SCS is TheresaCC. Be sure to say "hi" if you stop by. I would love to see you.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting more projects with using Melanie's new sets and she will also be featuring some of my projects on her blog.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Hi Theresa
This is my first time visiting your blog, which I saw on Gina K. What wonderful and clean work you do! So often I see, both on the net and in craft magazines, framing of paper and lines of embellishments (like beads/crystals) uneven and it just ruins the project for me. But your work is absolutely beautiful and makes me want to create a card like yours but with my own twist. Thanks for your incentive. I so appreciate it. I don't have a blog, but I figured I had better catch up with the times! So I'm in the process, along with my husband's help, of creating my own.
I just have to ask you the definitions of some abbreviations included within this blog. I'm 62 yrs. old and got my own laptop several months ago, so some of the 'lingo' is new to me. You used the initials of: SU - SCS - OMS. Could you please tell this un-enlightened senior/grandma what these letters stand for? I'd appreciate it, Theresa.
Thanks for sharing your lovely artwork with everyone, especially me!!
